Dental Hygiene
Our fully qualified and experienced hygienists work with you and your dentist to ensure healthy gums, fresh breath and outstanding oral health.
Our Dental Hygienists are an integral part of our dental team. Their services are often used alongside other specialised dental treatments to help to restore good oral health. The hygienist will also provides advice, which can be followed at home on how to tailor a lifelong oral regime to your individual requirements.
Depending on your level of care need, hygiene treatments range from basic scaling and polishing of teeth and gums, to more complex periodontal (gum) treatments and the removal of plaque and calculus (the deposits that collect on the teeth) and staining, such as tea, red wine and tobacco. All treatments are carefully carried out without discomfort. Regular repeat visits to the hygienist are then recommended to ensure good oral health is maintained and that treatments are successful, with a long life.
Our hygienists are qualified to:
- Carry out scaling and polishing
- Carry out periodontal treatments
- Place temporary dressings
- Take impressions
- Treat children - fissure sealants and oral health education
- Apply fluoride applications
- Administer local anaesthetic
- Give Fresh Breath advice
- Offer Smoking Cessation advice and support
Under the General Dental Councils guidance, patients are now allowed to see a hygienist without a prescription from a dentist, so if you already have your own dentist but would like to see one of our hygienists for hygiene treatment then please feel free to call reception to book in for an appointment.
